The historic Meryic Hotel on Eyre Square ... one of the city's landmark buildings and an hotel of refined elegance. |
Galway is a wonderful city to visit.
There is much to see and experience both in the historic city itself
and the surrounding area that you will be unlikely to find yourself at
a loss as to what to do next. Even a quiet stroll through the
winding streets is a pleasant and gentle joy, imbued as it is with a
laid-back and easy-going atmosphere. It has, of course, got its own
buzz, but it's a restrained energy that is disinclined to force or
harass the leisurely observer, and merely makes it in every sense a
good feeling to be there.
Beyond Galway city there is Connemara
and the vivid natural beauty of the lakes and mountains of Connemara
Natural Park. Kylemore Abbey and Ashford Castle may also grab your
attention, or travelling further afield, the unique landscape of The
Burren in Co. Clare.
